Artist & Researcher

I live in Paris and work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and artistic creation.

I created Obvious with two of my best friends and lead Obvious Research, our own research laboratory.

My research explores how algorithms can create images, videos and sound, and how they can become tools for artists.

Earlier, I studied perception, reinforcement learning and the teachability of autonomous agents at ISIR, INRIA and ENSTA ParisTech.

Obvious

I co-founded Obvious in 2017 with Pierre Fautrel and Gauthier Vernier. We are a French trio of artists and researchers creating artworks with artificial intelligence.

Our work came to international attention with the 2018 sale of Edmond de Belamy at Christie’s New York. Since then, our works have been exhibited in museums worldwide. We are represented by Danysz gallery and have worked with Nike, Alpine and the Opéra de Paris.

Our practice spans painting, sculpture, installations and digital art. We develop our own algorithms, then bring those research tools into creative practice.

In 2024, IMAGINE, created with the Paris Brain Institute, used AI and MRI to represent visual imagination from brain activity. It became both a scientific paper and exhibitions in Paris and Seoul.

In 2026, we co-created Molière Ex Machina with Sorbonne University. Combining generative models and expert knowledge, the play premiered at the Royal Opera of Versailles.

Obvious Research

I have led our AI research laboratory since 2023, in partnership with ISIR at Sorbonne University. Supported by an ANR grant of over €1 million for 2023-2027, we develop new algorithms for artistic creation and release tools as open source.

Our work covers image, video and sound generation, including Mind-to-Image, FrescoDiffusion and JoLT.
